Indiana is home to many amenities and communities that offer all kinds of ways to have fun and explore the state as the weather warms up.

Each year, hundreds of fairs and festivals are held across the state, many of which are showcased in the 2024 Indiana Festival Guide.

One of the largest events Hoosiers and visitors can take part in is the 2024 Indiana State Fair, which will take place Aug. 2 – 18 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

Indiana is also home to many state parks and recreation areas where even more events are held and activities, like hiking, boating, camping and fishing are available.

To kick off the warm weather season, Indiana State Parks will offer a special free admission day on Sunday, May 19. On this day, entry fees will be waived at all Indiana State Parks to give Hoosiers and visitors the chance to explore the properties and see what our state parks have to offer.

In addition, May 12, June 1 – 2 and Sept. 28 are free fishing days at all Indiana state parks. On free fishing days, Indiana residents do not need a fishing license or a trout/salmon stamp to fish the state's public waters.

With 24 state parks scattered across Indiana, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) provides a full map and list of state parks, which can be found here.

The DNR website also has an Indiana Trail Finder Interactive Map that provides visitors with information on all public trails, which can be found by clicking here.

These are just some of the many reasons why Indiana is a great place to enjoy the warm weather, and why Senate Republicans continue encouraging Hoosiers to discover all that our state has to offer.
