Carrasco encourages locals to attend energy affordability listening sessions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATEHOUSE (March 31, 2026) —State Sen. Cyndi Carrasco (R-Indianapolis) encourages residents of Senate District 36 to attend one of 10 state-wide listening sessions hosted by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to share the impacts of energy prices.

The closest listening session to Senate District 36 will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. eastern time, on Monday, April 20, in Ivy Tech Conference Center's Ballroom 212, 2820 N Meridian St., Indianapolis.

"As Hoosiers face rising utility costs, listening sessions to hear from Hoosiers about these rising costs play an important role," Carrasco said. "I encourage anyone who can attend a listening session to go so their concerns can be heard."

During the 2026 legislative session, Carrasco supported House Enrolled Act 1002, which overhauls Indiana's ratemaking process for electric utilities to promote affordability, predictable monthly bills and reliable service. The legislation switches Indiana to a performance-based ratemaking model, requiring utility companies to meet certain affordability and reliability goals in order to collect their full return on investment.

Carrasco encourages constituents to contact her with any questions or comments they may have.

She can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Carrasco or by phone at 800-382-9467.
