STATEHOUSE (April 11, 2024) — Communities in Senate District 7 will receive nearly $7.9 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded nearly $1.7 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 7, the following communities received grants:

  • Boone County received $556,005.51;
  • Brownsburg received $621,154.61;
  • Clinton County received $934,396.31;
  • Colfax received $88,486.50;
  • Crawfordsville received $790,523;
  • Frankfort received $318,441.45;
  • Hendricks County received $1.5 million;
  • Lebanon received $639,653;
  • Montgomery County received $1,294,465.44;
  • New Market received $623,553.02; and
  • Pittsboro received $519,416.24.

"Many of our local roads have heavy traffic that causes the roads to require improvement beyond routine maintenance," Buchanan said. "That's why programs like the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program, which allow communities to make needed infrastructure investments, are so important in Indiana. I congratulate the communities that received these funds and commend the local leaders for looking out for their residents."

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1.5 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.

The CCMG offers two rounds of applications each year, with the next call for applications occurring in July of 2024.
