High quality of life is important in attracting and maintaining talent in our great state, and makes an area more attractive to businesses looking to be successful in the 21st century economy.

Thankfully, Indiana is home to many natural landmarks for Hoosiers and visitors to enjoy. That's why the Indiana General Assembly allocated $30 million to support the Next Level Trails program in the new 2024-25 state budget. In the first three rounds of the program, the state awarded more than $120 million to maintain and improve Indiana's trail systems, resulting in more than 190 trail miles being built in 49 counties.

The next round of applications for the Next Level Trails program opens on July 1. For more information, click here.

The budget also allocates $100 million to build a new inn at Potato Creek State Park. Currently, there are seven inns located at Indiana State Parks, six of which are located in the south.

Senate Republicans also supported Senate Enrolled Act 151, which gives foster families free access to Indiana State Parks beginning July 1.

From Pokagon to Harmonie, Indiana's state parks have welcomed families looking to spend time outside, and this legislation helps these families access state parks and recreational areas.

The Hoosier state is not only a great place to live and work, but is also a great place to get outdoors. These legislative accomplishments will continue supporting great quality of life for Hoosiers and improving Indiana's standing as a leader in the Midwest for years to come.
