Interim Study Committees

Interim Study Committees

Tuesday, June 9, 2026

The Indiana General Assembly's Legislative Council met in May to assign study committee topics for lawmakers to review during the 2026 legislative interim.

Each year state senators and representatives meet when the legislature is not in session to research and discuss topics to support Hoosiers. This year, those topics include childcare funding, property tax assessments, workforce programs, tax incentives, crime trends and opportunities to advance our state's agriculture industry. One topic that may be of interest to Hoosiers is the discussion that will take place in the Interim Study Committee on Education, where lawmakers will discuss the topic of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights for student-athletes at the high school level.

These discussions will help ensure Indiana passes yet another balanced two-year budget, which impacts everything from workforce programs to schools and local governments.

Members of the General Assembly are assigned to study committees by leaders in the Senate and House of Representatives.

As policymakers and state agencies prepare for next year's budget session, input from Hoosiers will be critical to ensure the Indiana General Assembly passes legislation that reflects the needs of Hoosiers.

Constituents are encouraged to contact their state senator with any questions, comments or concerns they may have.
