When the legislature is not in session, members of the Indiana General Assembly meet in study committees to discuss and learn more about important issues facing Indiana.
The Legislative Council recently met to assign topics for lawmakers to study during the 2025 legislative interim.
Some of the topics include water safety, artificial intelligence, crime trends facing our state, environmental issues, maternal mental health and much more.
Each committee will use these meetings to hear from industry experts and constituents on how these issues are impacting the state and how the legislature can best go about resolving these issues.
House and Senate leaders will assign members to each study committee in the coming weeks. Interim committees, which will be chaired by the Senate this year, will meet during the summer and fall months in preparation for the 2026 session of the General Assembly.
The resolution outlining assigned committee topics can be found here.
