Zay to attend Educator/Center of Influence Tour

STATEHOUSE (June 19, 2019) — State Sen. Andy Zay (R-Huntington) will attend a tour of U.S. Army facilities today, June 19, through June 20 in San Antonio, Texas.

The Educator/Center of Influence Tour brings together top educators from across Indiana and Illinois to facilitate positive relationships between educators and the U.S. Army.

This tour serves as a way to strengthen awareness of educational benefits offered by the U.S. Army and improve educator relationships in support of the Indianapolis Army Recruiting Battalion mission.

“The U.S. Military and our veterans are an important part of Indiana's economy,” Zay said. “I’m honored to have been invited to attend this tour, because I believe it will serve as a very educational experience. I hope educators and other legislators in attendance will leave this tour with more knowledge of the wonderful opportunities U.S. Army service provides.”

The tour will visit:

• Army Medical Schools and Army Medical Command;

• Education Center at Joint Base San Antonio;

• Army North and Army South;

• Tour of the famous landmark “The Alamo;”

• San Antonio Riverwalk and historic Market Square;

• Army History Museum at the old fort; and

• Engagement Skills Trainer.

Joint Base San Antonio serves as headquarters for Army North, Army South, U.S. Army Health Readiness Center of Excellence and the Army Medical Command Headquarters.
