Zay responds to gaming study highlighting Northeast Indiana
STATEHOUSE (Oct. 29, 2025) — Northeast Indiana was recently identified as one of the top regions in the state for a potential casino relocation according to a new study released by the Indiana Gaming Commission, said State Sen. Andy Zay (R-Huntington).
Earlier this year Zay authored Senate Enrolled Act 43, which required the Indiana Gaming Commission to conduct an independent study to determine the top two regions in the state where a casino license could be relocated. These findings were submitted to the State Budget Committee today.
"It's great to see this study recognize the strong economic potential of northeast Indiana," Zay said. "Our region continues to show signs of growth and investment opportunities, and I look forward to continuing my work and reviewing this study to see what possibilities are available to our state and region."
This study builds on Zay's earlier efforts with Senate Bill 293, which would have allowed the relocation of Rising Sun Casino's license to northeast Indiana. Zay believes the study is a good first step in understanding how a potential casino relocation could strengthen Indiana's economy while supporting development in areas where there is much room to grow.
