Tomes to chair Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and The Military

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 8, 2022) – State Sen. Jim Tomes (R-Wadesville) has been reappointed by Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) to serve as chair of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and The Military for the 123rd Indiana General Assembly.

Tomes will also serve as ranking member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Transportation and as a member of the Senate Committees on Agriculture, Local Government and Natural Resources.

“As a veteran myself, it has always been of the utmost importance to me that we work to pass meaningful legislation for all Hoosiers who served our state and country," Tomes said. "I am honored to serve as chair of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs and the Military for another session, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to address issues facing our communities."

The 2023 legislative session ceremonially began with Organization Day on Nov. 22. The Senate is scheduled to reconvene for session Jan. 9.
