The brave men and women of the U.S. military put their lives on the line to protect the freedoms and rights of Americans. Their bravery and sacrifice support our strong and free nation.
Senate Republicans are dedicated to strengthening resources and support for veterans and military families across Indiana.
During the 2026 legislative session, the Indiana General Assembly passed House Enrolled Act 1210 to help lower the cost of living for disabled veterans and their families.
This new law provides a 100% deduction on homestead property taxes for totally disabled veterans in Indiana. This means veterans with a total disability, or their surviving spouse, will not pay property taxes on their home starting in 2027, saving Hoosier veterans more than $27 million each year.
This law also gives partially disabled wartime veterans, or their surviving spouse, a $350 property tax credit, and partially disabled veterans 65 years old or older, or their surviving spouse, a $250 property tax credit. If a veteran is eligible for both credits, they will receive both.
In the 2025 legislative session, the Indiana General Assembly passed House Enrolled Act 1111, which enhances benefits for members of the Indiana National Guard. This law expands the use of the National Guard Tuition Supplement Scholarship to include workforce training programs other than college courses, including apprenticeships and trade certifications. It also expands eligibility for workers’ compensation, offers more medical insurance options and provides improved family benefits in the event of a line-of-duty death.

Senate Republicans are grateful for the selfless service of our military members and their sacrifice to keep our great country free.
