Students Invited to Serve as Senate Pages

Monday, December 14, 2015

The Indiana General Assembly’s 2016 legislative session will soon be underway. During the upcoming session, legislators plan to address several important issues, including road funding, supporting our local schools and teachers, and continuing to build our pro-growth economic environment.

Welcoming Hoosier students from around the state to participate in a full day of legislative activity with the Senate Page Program is an exciting part of every session. Students in grades six through 12 are invited and encouraged to participate in this unique learning experience.

The Senate Page Program is a special opportunity for students to witness the legislative process firsthand, meet state lawmakers and listen to debates on important issues affecting our state. Students who participate in the one-day page program will tour the state capitol, work with Senate staff, meet their local senator, and observe our state government up-close.

The 2016 session of the Indiana General Assembly begins Jan. 5. Pages are welcome Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, until the legislative session ends in March. Groups of pages are scheduled on Wednesdays.

Students may apply online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/page-program.

All requests need to include the parent or legal guardian’s contact information as well as the student’s name, age, grade level and school affiliation or homeschool status. Friends, siblings or groups wanting to page on the same day should send requests together.

Page positions are limited, and the program fills up quickly, so interested students should apply as soon as possible. After the page office processes requests, accepted students will receive confirmation of their scheduled dates to serve. Participating in the page program will qualify as an excused absence from school.
