Statement from State Sen. Ryan Mishler on the revenue forecast

State Sen. Ryan Mishler (R-Bremen), chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, made the following statement regarding the revenue forecast announced today:

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 16, 2020) — "Years of conservative fiscal management by the Indiana General Assembly have allowed our state to maintain strong reserves for unforeseen circumstances, such as the unprecedented situation we now find ourselves in. As seen by the revenue forecast today, our reserves have allowed Indiana to be in a much better financial position than we otherwise could have been. The hard work of our state agencies that proactively cut their spending at the beginning of the pandemic has also contributed to our ability to weather the current storm. While the outlook is positive, we must be cautiously optimistic and continue to use strong fiscal discipline as we put together our next two-year budget."
