Statement from State Sen. Ron Alting

State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) made the following statement following the conclusion of the 2023 legislative session:

STATEHOUSE (April 28, 2023) – "I am proud of the progress we made this year on increasing mental health services for Hoosiers.

"There is a mental health crisis in Indiana and I believe Senate Enrolled Act 1, which I authored, is a tremendous step toward helping Hoosiers in every corner of the state understand they have someone to call, someone to respond and a safe place to go. Furthermore, I am pleased to see this initiative receive $100 million in our next state budget.

"I am also pleased to see the legislature increase K-12 tuition support by $1.5 billion over the next two fiscal years so Indiana can ensure students are ready for life after graduation.

"As a state senator, putting the needs of Hoosier families first is a top priority of mine and I believe these initiatives, as well as passing another balanced budget, is setting Indiana up for continued success in the years to come."
