Statement from State Sen. Mike Bohacek

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

State Sen. Mike Bohacek (R-Michiana Shores) made the following statement regarding the conclusion of the 2026 legislative session:

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 27, 2026) – "Today we officially concluded the 2026 legislative session, and while I am pleased with the work we accomplished, I am disappointed legislation I authored that would have updated Indiana's age of consent laws to be more restrictive did not move forward in the legislative process. I will continue to find ways to ensure the protection of our Hoosier children.

"One issue facing our community is the increasing cost of electric utilities. To address this, I co-sponsored House Enrolled Act 1002, which would create a performance-based ratemaking framework that connects utilities’ yearly revenue and profit to their ability to successfully meet the needs of residential consumers. This will help bring a more predictable and affordable bill cycle to Hoosiers.

"I look forward to continuing to work for you as we begin to consider ideas for next session that will benefit Hoosiers and make Indiana an even better place to live and work."
