Statement from State Sen. Kyle Walker

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

State Sen. Kyle Walker (R-Lawrence) made the following statement regarding the conclusion of the 2026 legislative session:

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 27, 2026) – "Today, the General Assembly concluded the 2026 legislative session, and I am proud of the legislation I authored and sponsored that passed this session.

"This session, I championed legislation that would codify the Foster Youth bill of rights into law, restrict Home Owners Associations from increasing their budgets without a quorum during meetings, prevent health insurance premium increases on public safety employees disabled in the line of duty and their families and expedite Hoosiers' access to health care when facing advanced metastatic cancer. I also supported legislation that requires state regulated defined contribution plans to offer at least one crypto currency investment option.

"As ranking member on the Senate Committee on Public Policy, I also supported legislation to provide opportunities for county fair boards to get permits to sell alcohol during their county fair and a bill to revoke the alcohol permits from bars that are a public nuisance.

"The conclusion of the 2026 legislative session also concludes my final session as the state senator for Senate District 31, and I am thankful for the opportunity to have served Hoosiers from Senate District 31 at the Statehouse."
