State Sen. Jim Tomes (R-Wadesville) made the following statement regarding his meeting with CenterPoint Energy CEO Jason Wells:
STATEHOUSE (April 10, 2026) – "On Wednesday, April 8, my wife Margie and I met one-on-one with CenterPoint Energy President and CEO Jason Wells, along with two other company executives.
"We spoke for an hour at their office in Indianapolis, where we showed them several copies of people's utility bills demonstrating the month-to-month spikes, discussed the multiple individual charges on the bills and the concerns about the reliability and accuracy of the smart meters. We truly covered all aspects of the utility bills and operations.
"It was a productive meeting and well worth the long drive into the city to speak with Mr. Wells, and I've already received messages stating they have things to work on and will get back with me as soon as possible.
"Before we left, I asked them to send out a press release about the meeting, and I was notified it would be sent out today."
