Statement from State Sen. Jim Merritt

STATE HOUSE (March 27, 2019) — “Today, I presented Senate Bill 33 in the House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means. SB 33 would establish the Comprehensive Addiction Recovery Centers (CARC) Grant Program, which would create three addiction recovery centers in Indiana, placing one in the northern, central and southern regions.

“We have an ongoing drug addiction crisis nationwide, and Indiana must continue to make strides toward providing Hoosiers with better prevention, treatment and recovery resources to battle this hardship. SB 33, if passed, would help our state provide those who are struggling with the assistance they need by establishing CARCs.

“I am eager to see SB 33 move forward, and I will continue to fight the drug epidemic and build a system of care for Hoosiers.”
