Statement from State Sen. Jim Merritt on collaborative meeting

State Sen. Jim Merritt (R-Indianapolis) made the following statement today in response to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission’s announcement to host an informational, collaborative meeting:

STATE HOUSE (March 8, 2019) — “I am excited to hear the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) will host a collaborative meeting to discuss Indiana’s net metering. To help move Indiana forward, I believe we need to continue to discuss net metering and review the effects previous renewable energy legislation has had on our state.

“I encourage all interested Hoosiers to attend, as the meeting will provide residents and utility companies the opportunity to discuss with the IURC the availability of net metering under the capacity threshold or reserved capacity limits set under Indiana code. Additionally, through this collaborative meeting, the IURC will take suggestions from attendees to be more effective and better serve Hoosiers.

“I look forward to engaging with my fellow Hoosiers to work toward a positive outcome.”
