State Sen. Jim Buck (R-Kokomo) made the following statement in response to Gov. Eric Holcomb’s 2024 State of the State address:

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 10, 2024) – "Last night, Gov. Eric Holcomb outlined a number of priorities and state achievements.

"I listened in amazement to all of the accomplishments we have achieved as a General Assembly and as a state, such as:

  • Paying down $4.5 billion in debt, returning $1.5 billion to taxpayers and maintaining our AAA state credit rating;
  • Committing $28.7 billion in capital investments last year and bringing Indiana over $50 billion in economic development efforts over the last two years;
  • Achieving all-time high wage levels averaging over $75,000 a year, much higher than local and national averages; and
  • Investing $18.7 billion in rural and mixed-rural communities, bringing over 21,800 new jobs.

"These are truly incredible feats that show what can be done through the cooperation of the different sectors and branches of government. Our economy can only continue to grow if we work as a collective body.

"This session, I will work with my fellow lawmakers to consider legislation to further improve our state."
