Statement from State Sen. Jeff Raatz in response to the 2026 State of the State address

State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond) made the following statement today in response to Gov. Mike Braun's 2026 State of the State address:

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 14, 2026) – "I am pleased to see Gov. Braun prioritizing important education bills this year, including two bills I authored, Senate Bill 78, which would limit cellphone usage in schools, and Senate Bill 199, which would ensure parents have control of their kids' ability to create social media accounts.

"Indiana is one of the best states in the country for education. We show that in our all-time high graduation rate of 92% and being ranked sixth in the country for fourth-grade literacy rates.

"As chair of the Senate Committee on Education and Career Development, I look forward to working with the governor and my fellow legislators to continue to improve education in our state."
