Statement from State Sen. Eric Koch

State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) made the following statement regarding the conclusion of the 2024 legislative session:

STATEHOUSE (March 8, 2024) – "I am pleased to see the General Assembly close the 2024 legislative session after passing several measures to address public health and safety issues.

"Lawmakers prioritized a number of measures this session to protect Hoosiers' health, including Senate Enrolled Act 5, which I authored to speed the replacement of lead water lines in Indiana. Under this legislation, our state and utility companies can better address lead exposure in Indiana and prevent long-term health risks in Hoosiers.

"Public safety also remains a top priority for lawmakers because Hoosiers and visitors should feel safe living in and visiting our state. I authored Senate Enrolled Act 181 and Senate Enrolled Act 182 to address issues putting our communities at risk by ensuring Indiana's ban on sanctuary cities is enforced and drones are not being used to drop contraband into our state correctional facilities.

"These initiatives and many others passed this legislative session take significant steps in making our state a better place to live, work and raise a family."
