FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
State Sen. Blake Doriot (R-Goshen) made the following statement regarding the conclusion of the 2026 legislative session:
STATEHOUSE (Feb. 27, 2026) – "This session, I was pleased to be able to support legislation that impacts all Hoosiers, both in our local community and throughout the state.
"To help Elkhart's manufacturing industries, I authored a new law that creates an exception to certain requirements for a motor vehicle's chassis, or framework, if it is part of a vehicle manufacturer's work in process and is towed for less than 40 miles.
"I have also been dedicated to ensuring Indiana's voting system is secure and accurate. To address this, I authored legislation that prohibits the use of ranked choice voting. Under ranked choice voting, ranking all the candidates could ultimately be a vote against a person's preferred candidate.
"One of the biggest issues facing northern Indiana is the high cost of electric utilities. To address this, I supported legislation that creates a more predictable and affordable bill cycle by creating a performance-based ratemaking framework that connects utilities’ yearly revenue and profit to their ability to successfully meet the needs of residential consumers.
"Finally, I authored a new law that helps clear the way for small modular reactors to be set up in Indiana as safely, rapidly and as cost-effectively as possible.
"I am pleased to see these bills be signed into law by the governor, and will continue to look for ways to help improve life for those in our community."
