Statement from State Sen. Aaron Freeman

State Sen. Aaron Freeman (R-Indianapolis) made the following statement today
regarding the recent death of a young woman and her unborn child in Mishawaka:

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 13, 2018) – “I am saddened to learn of the tragic death of Breana Rouhselang and her unborn child, and my thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

“Last session, I authored Senate Enrolled Act 203, which the General Assembly passed, allowing perpetrators in these cases to be charged for both the death of the mother and fetus.

“While I hoped this law would not have to be used, I am glad it is in place to bring perpetrators to justice. I hope the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office will examine the facts of this case, and, if appropriate, bring a second homicide count against the defendant for the loss of the unborn child.”
