Statement from Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray

Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) made the following statement today regarding the updated state budget agreement:

STATEHOUSE (April 26, 2023) – “Senate Republicans have always prioritized fiscal responsibility, and we are excited to be cutting income taxes for Hoosiers while also paying down the Pre-1996 Teachers' Retirement Fund to the tune of $3.1 billion over the biennium in the state budget proposal. When this pension is fully funded and self-sustaining, our state will be in a position to explore some transformational opportunities for Hoosiers. We are also pleased to be raising pay for our Indiana State Police officers and providing much-needed funding to improve public and mental health.

"Finally, this budget also supports our long-term goals of maintaining Indiana's low-cost, reliable business environment and positions us well to attract some major investments in the coming years."
