STATEHOUSE (July 9, 2025) — State Sen. Rick Niemeyer (R-Lowell) will serve as chair of the Interim Study Committee on Environmental Affairs, as well as the Senate chair of the Compliance Advisory Panel and a member of the Environmental Adjudication Director Selection Panel and Indiana Recycling Market Development Board in preparation for the 2026 legislative session.
"Ensuring electronic waste is properly discarded plays an important role in keeping our environment safe and is a good way to practice stewardship," Niemeyer said. "I am looking forward to working with my fellow lawmakers during the coming months to see what we can do to address improperly discarded waste that might cause pollution from lead and other harmful materials."
Legislators will meet over the summer and fall months to discuss topics approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which is comprised of 16 voting members – eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
