State Sen. Mike Bohacek to serve on roads and transportation study committee

STATEHOUSE (July 13, 2023) — State Sen. Mike Bohacek (R-Michiana Shores) will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation in preparation for the 2024 legislative session.

The committee will:

  • Study the reduction and prevention of roadway fatalities and other driving safety issues;
  • Study civil penalty assessments and the enforcement of overweight loads regarding their impact on state infrastructure;
  • Review road and bridge renaming proposals; and
  • Advise the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles in approving new specialty license plates.

“Interim study committees provide lawmakers more time to hear from industry experts on topics that may directly impact legislation," Bohacek said. "I'm looking forward to discussing and considering policy to help keep Hoosiers safe on our roadways and improve Indiana's infrastructure."

Legislators will meet over the summer and fall months to discuss topics approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which is comprised of 16 voting members – eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
