State Sen. Liz Brown to vice chair
courts and the judiciary study committee

STATEHOUSE (Aug. 22, 2022) — State Sen. Liz Brown (R-Fort Wayne) will serve as vice chair of the Interim Study Committee on Courts and the Judiciary and as a member of several other committees in preparation for the 2023 legislative session.

Brown's other assignments include the following:

  • Distressed Unit Appeal Board;
  • Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Board;
  • Medicaid Advisory Committee;
  • Medicaid Advisory Committee – Standing Fiscal Subcommittee; and
  • State Budget Committee.

“As vice chair of the courts and the judiciary study committee, I look forward to finding ways to improve Indiana's existing courts by reviewing requests for new courts and judicial officers, changes in jurisdiction of existing courts and the weighted caseload measurement report published by the office of judicial administration," Brown said. “Our judiciary systems are an integral part of the state’s operation, and this summer and fall will allow us to look for ways to make them more effective and efficient."

Legislators will meet over the summer and fall months to discuss topics approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which is comprised of 16 voting members – eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
