State Sen. Jeff Raatz to Serve on Study Committees

STATEHOUSE (June 29, 2017) — State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Centerville) will serve on the following study committees and commission during the summer and fall months to help prepare for the 2018 session of the General Assembly:

  • Interim Study Committee on Education
  • Interim Study Committee on Commerce and Economic Development
  • Midwestern Higher Education Commission

“I’m looking forward to examining important education and economic development issues facing Indiana,” Raatz said. “In the Committee on Education, we will hear testimony and discuss ways we can prepare our future educators for the classroom.”

When Indiana’s part-time legislature is not in session, lawmakers serve on interim study committees that meet to review the state’s top issues, as identified by the General Assembly during the prior legislative session.

Study committee topics are assigned by the bipartisan Legislative Council, comprised of 16 voting members — eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
