State Sen. Jean Leising welcomes USDA regional hub to Indianapolis

STATEHOUSE (July 25, 2025) — State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) today welcomed the United States Department of Agriculture regional hub to Indianapolis after U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced the USDA would move its major operations from Washington, D.C. to five regional hub locations to bring the department closer to its consumers.

The USDA will also open hubs in Colorado, Missouri, North Carolina and Utah.

The move will bring increased access to the USDA for farmers and is part of a restructuring plan to ensure the organization is working at its best providing the support the agriculture industry needs.

"As the chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, it is great to hear the USDA is moving to states like Indiana that have a very strong agricultural industry," Leising said. "By creating a hub in Indiana, our farmers and rural communities will be better served and those working for the USDA will be closer to issues affecting agriculture."
