State Sen. Gary Byrne to serve on study committees

STATEHOUSE (Aug. 22, 2022) — State Sen. Gary Byrne (R-Byrneville) will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Child Services and the Lewis and Clark Expedition Commission in preparation for the 2023 legislative session.

“Interim study committees provide the opportunity to further research issues facing communities around the state," Byrne said. "In the Study Committee on Child Services, we will review reports of state and local child fatality review teams. Studying these will enable lawmakers, like myself, to draft legislation that better protects Hoosier children."

Legislators will meet over the summer and fall months to discuss topics approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which is comprised of 16 voting members – eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
