State Sen. Ed Charbonneau to vice-chair study committee

STATEHOUSE (June 23, 2020) — State Sen. Ed Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso) will serve as vice-chair of the Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health, and Human Services during the summer and fall to help prepare lawmakers for the 2021 legislative session.

He will also serve on the following committees, councils and authority:

  • Interim Study Committee on Fiscal Policy;
  • Legislative Council;
  • Legislative Council, Technology Oversight Committee;
  • Medicaid Advisory Committee; and
  • Transborder Water Resources Authority.

“I am honored to serve as Senate vice-chair of the Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health, and Human Services,” Charbonneau said. “The COVID-19 pandemic has had unprecedented effects on the lives of all Hoosiers, and the discussions my colleagues and I have this interim will be critical in determining solutions to key issues facing the health and wellbeing of our state.”

When Indiana’s part-time legislature is not in session, lawmakers serve on interim study committees that meet to review the state’s top issues, as identified by the General Assembly during the prior legislative session.

Study committee topics are assigned by the bipartisan Legislative Council, comprised of 16 voting members — eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
