State Sen. Chris Garten named Assistant Caucus Chair

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 30, 2020) — State Sen. Chris Garten (R-Charlestown) was recently appointed Assistant Majority Caucus Chair by Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville).

As Assistant Majority Caucus Chair, Garten will collaborate with the Majority Caucus Chair, State Sen. Travis Holdman (R-Markle), regarding the development of the majority caucus agenda, assist in presiding over the majority caucus meetings, and aid with the development of policy, as well as a variety of other leadership tasks that help keep the Senate running smoothly.

"Sen. Garten is a great public servant with strong Hoosier values, and he has demonstrated capable leadership as he has grown in his role as a state senator," Bray said. "I have no doubt that Chris will serve our caucus well in his new position."

Holdman echoed Bray's remarks and said he is looking forward to having Garten serve alongside him.

"Sen. Garten's commitment to public service, leadership skills and common-sense approach to the legislative process will allow him to excel as the Assistant Majority Caucus Chair, and I look forward to working with him this session," Holdman said.

"I am humbled and honored to have been hand-selected to serve in this leadership role," Garten said. "I look forward to collaborating with other principle leaders to help keep the Senate on track as we navigate this unique legislative session."

Garten recently served on the Legislative Continuity Committee during the summer and fall to help prepare legislators for the 2021 legislative session. Members focused on how the legislative branch can better prepare for future emergencies and how the legislature can continue to operate safely and securely in times of crisis.
