STATEHOUSE (July 9, 2025) — State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon) will serve as chair of the Interim Study Committee on Commerce and Economic Development and as a member of several other study committees in preparation for the 2026 legislative session.
Buchanan's other assignments include:
"I am eager to lead the commerce and economic development study committee this year as we study barriers that limit entry into licensed professions," Buchanan said. "A number of high-paying professions require licensing, and ensuring Hoosiers who want to work in these jobs have access is an important tool to providing a stable economic future for Indiana."
Legislators will meet over the summer and fall months to discuss topics approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which is comprised of 16 voting members – eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
