STATEHOUSE (March 31, 2017) – State Sens. Joe Zakas (R-Granger) and Ryan Mishler (R-Bremen) recently sponsored Senate Concurrent Resolution 37 congratulating the Saint Joseph High School Girls’ Basketball Team on their Class 3A state championship.
The team defeated North Harrison High School 57 - 49 in the girls Class 3A state championship game. Senior guard Daly Sullivan led St. Joseph by scoring 21 points, guard Nicole Konieczny added nine points, and senior Abby O'Connor scored eight points and had 16 rebounds. Freshman guard Keegan Sullivan scored seven points and had 12 rebounds, and senior forward Killian Mountford added seven points and 10 rebounds.
“Congratulations to the Saint Joseph High School Girls’ Basketball team on this great accomplishment,” Zakas said. “This recognition is well deserved. These young leaders worked hard to come out on top.”
Mishler echoed Zakas’s comments, saying the girls’ hard work and dedication paid off.
“It’s appropriate for the General Assembly to honor these girls,” Mishler said. “I wish them continued success in their athletic and academic endeavors.”
The girls played three top-10 teams before playing in the championship game.
