Sen. Johnson welcomes local student to Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 21, 2024) – State Sen. Tyler Johnson (R-Leo) welcomed Harlan resident and homeschooled student Logan Hammond to the Statehouse as a Senate page in January.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.

"I enjoy meeting pages from my district and answering their questions about state government," Johnson said. "The page program is a great opportunity for students to meet their state senators and get a closer look at the legislative process."

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
