Sen. Garten welcomes local students to the Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 16, 2024) – State Sen. State Sen. Chris Garten (R-Charlestown) welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse who served as Senate pages in January.

  • Addison Cheatham, from Scottsburg, attends Scottsburg Middle School
  • Emmalynn Cheatham, from Scottsburg, attends Scottsburg Middle School
  • Ellie Fifer, from LaGrange, attends Oldham County Middle School
  • Corbin James, from Lexington, attends Scottsburg Middle School
  • Taren James, from Lexington, attends Scottsburg Middle School
  • Gavin Jones, from Scottsburg, attends Scottsburg Middle School
  • Keith Landon, from Austin, attends Austin High School
  • Reagan Lanum, from Jeffersonville, attends Christian Academy of Indiana
  • Stella Siewert, from Jeffersonville, attends Jeffersonville High School

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.

"The Page Program is an excellent way for students to become involved in their local state government," Garten said. "I enjoyed meeting the pages as they learned about our legislature."

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
