Sen. Dernulc welcomes local student to Statehouse as Senate page

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATEHOUSE (March 4, 2026) – State Sen. Dan Dernulc (R-Highland) welcomed Schererville resident Christian Herrera to the Statehouse to serve as a Senate page.

Herrera, who attends Lake Central High School, spent a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and meeting Dernulc.

"The Senate Page Program is a great opportunity for any student interested in state government," Dernulc said. "It's encouraging to see students like Christian take the long trip from Senate District 1 to learn more about what we do here at the Statehouse."

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session.

The 2026 Senate Page program has now ended. Parents interested in learning more about the program should visit www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Page-Program. Applications for the 2027 program will be available at the end of 2026.
