Sen. Byrne welcomes local students to the Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (March 12, 2024) – State Sen. Gary Byrne (R-Byrneville) welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse who served as Senate pages in February.

  • Asher Abner, from Palmyra, attends North Harrison Middle School
  • Samira Beam, from Lanesville, attends Floyd Central High School
  • Abigail Berger, from Floyd Knobs, attends Floyd Knobs High School
  • Lydia Windell, from Corydon, attends North Harrison High School

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.

"The Senate Page Program is a great way for students to get involved in their state government and learn about the legislative process," Byrne said. "I enjoy seeing pages take an interest in their civic duty and answering their questions about our state legislature."

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
