Sen. Byrne welcomes local students to Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (April 19, 2023) – State Sen. Gary Byrne (R-Byrneville) welcomed Highland Hills Middle School students and Floyds Knobs residents Grace and Sophia Finn to the Statehouse where they served as Senate pages in March.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.

"I always look forward to helping students learn about our state government," Byrne said. "The Senate Page Program is a great experience for young Hoosiers to learn about the legislative process up close, and I encourage all students interested in state government to participate next session."

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
