Sen. Bassler welcomes local students to Statehouse as Senate pages

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATEHOUSE (March 6, 2026) — State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington) welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse who served as Senate pages.

  • Nick Bassler, from Washington, attends Washington Catholic Schools
  • Everett Hagg, from Washington, attends Washington Catholic Schools
  • Elena Lyon, from Loogootee, attends Loogootee Middle School (pictured with State Sen. Vaneta Becker (R-Evansville)
  • William Lyon, from Loogootee, attends Loogootee High School (pictured with State Sen. Jim Tomes (R-Wadesville)
  • Miriam Spillman, from Solsberry, is a homeschooled student
  • Luke Underwood, from Montgomery, attends Barr Reeve Community Schools
  • Maxwell Voges, from Washington, attends Washington Catholic Schools
  • Naomi Wade, from Linton, is a homeschooled student
  • River Wade, from Linton, is a homeschooled student
  • Willow Wade, from Linton, is a homeschooled student

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.

"I always enjoy having students from my local community come spend a day at the Statehouse," Bassler said. "This is a great program that gives students an opportunity to get involved and learn how our state government works."

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session.

The 2026 Senate Page program has now ended. Parents interested in learning more about the program should visit www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Page-Program. Applications for the 2027 program will be available at the end of 2026.
