STATEHOUSE (Sept. 17, 2025) — State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) presented the American Legion Harry Bohannon Post 75, the post's American Legion Auxiliary and its Sons of the American Legion with certificates on Friday, Sept. 12 to celebrate the organizations' anniversaries.
The post itself is celebrating its 105th anniversary while the Auxiliary is celebrating its 100th anniversary and the Sons of the American Legion is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
"As a Son of the American Legion myself, it was an honor to recognize these organizations and the men and women who work hard to support our veterans and active-duty personnel," Alting said.
Throughout his time in the Senate, Alting has been awarded the American Legion's Distinguished Public Service Award multiple times.
"As chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Policy, I have authored or supported legislation in recent years supporting organizations like American Legion posts by allowing them to use gaming revenue for facility improvements," Alting said. "Posts like this across Indiana support Hoosier veterans and the communities they serve.
