STATEHOUSE (April 22, 2026) — Two bills authored by State Sen. Linda Rogers (R-Granger) that simplify state pensions processes and address property taxes were ceremonially signed by the governor today.
Senate Enrolled Act 14 simplifies the administration of state regulated pensions and provides flexibility to employees by allowing them to revisit a retirement plan selection and make a change if needed. SEA 14 also increases the death benefit paid to the family of a fallen police officer or firefighter.
"As chair of the Senate Committee on Pensions and Labor, I am dedicated to improving our state's pensions processes and ensuring all benefits are being properly utilized," Rogers said. "I was pleased to work with Indiana State Comptroller Elise Nieshalla, the Indiana Public Retirement System, the State Budget Authority and my fellow lawmakers on this legislation to ensure that all Indiana state employees are able to take advantage of the benefits they are offered."
Senate Enrolled Act 163 further addresses property tax issues by extending the county option circuit breaker tax credit through 2028 and requiring permission from the property owner before an assessor can enter the property to conduct an inspection.
"Taxes continue to be an issue for Hoosiers across the state, and I am always looking for ways to reduce taxes and address affordability," Rogers said. "SEA 163 helps strengthen housing affordability and explores more predictable property tax payment options to ease some of the burdens Hoosier taxpayers face."
Rogers encourages residents of Senate District 11 to contact her with any questions or comments they may have. Rogers can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Rogers or by phone at 800-382-9467.
