Revenue Forecast Statement from State Sen. Ryan Mishler

State Sen. Ryan Mishler (R-Mishawaka), chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, made the following statement today regarding the revenue forecast:

STATEHOUSE (April 19, 2023) — "The positive feedback from the revenue forecast can be attributed to strong fiscal conservatism. I'm pleased with most of the numbers we received back. The additional $1.5 billion puts us in a great place to make some improvements throughout Indiana.

"We do need to be cognizant of the slowing rate of growth seen in the state, and I'm very concerned about the Medicaid growth. We need to be cautious in our expansion of the program to ensure the state can remain a provider for those who need the program the most.

"We are fortunate to be in a position where we can consider some additional funding for different Senate priorities. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate, House and the governor to pass a state budget that will work well for Hoosiers and our state."
