Welcoming the New Year

By State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond)

As the new year approaches, now is the time to reflect on what we have accomplished this year and look ahead to the next one.

During the 2025 session, I authored legislation that increased the minimum teacher pay and established the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. I also sponsored legislation that improved how Indiana schools are graded and legislation that improved benefits and protections for members of the Indiana National Guard.

We will resume the 2026 session soon, and I am eager to get to work. One of the bills I am working on this session would limit cell phone usage at schools so our students are focused on learning and engaging with their peers.

I look forward to working with my colleagues in both the House and Senate this year to pass meaningful legislation that will make our state a better place to live and work.

We have accomplished a lot in 2025, and I want to thank everyone who reached out and met with me throughout the year. Your feedback has been incredibly helpful.

I look forward to representing Senate District 27 during the 2026 session, and I wish everyone a Happy New Year!

As always, I encourage constituents to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by filling out a "Contact Me" form on the IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Raatz website or by calling my office at 800-382-9467.
