Raatz Roundup: Ensuring Fair Elections

by State Sen. Jeff Raatz

In the United States, it is important to ensure we maintain free and fair elections so the voices of the people can be heard.

That is why I have supported many bills to increase election transparency and crack down on voter fraud.

This year, I supported Senate Enrolled Act 112, which addresses situations when a candidate for office moves and must drop out of a race. Under the bill, if a candidate drops out of an election and the address on their withdrawal form is different from their voter registration, their registration is automatically updated to match the address on their withdrawal form.

I also supported Senate Enrolled Act 113, which changes the amount of time election materials are preserved in county election offices from the current requirement of 22 months after an election to 34 months. This legislation will help retain election material if it's needed for evidence in the event an individual is charged with election fraud.

In 2025, I supported Senate Enrolled Act 10, which makes Indiana's already strong voter ID laws even stronger by removing loosely regulated college IDs as a legal form of voter ID to ensure only Indiana residents are voting in our elections.

I also supported House Enrolled Act 1680 (2025) to require all electronic voting machines in Indiana to have a voter-verifiable paper trail and gave the Secretary of State more authority to perform post-election audits. This legislation makes it harder to commit voter fraud and ensures that those who do commit voter fraud are held responsible.

As your senator, I will continue to protect our elections and stand up for the most fundamental right we have as Americans: our voice.

As always, I encourage constituents to reach out to me with any questions or concerns by filling out a "Contact Me" form on the IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Raatz website or by calling my office at 800-382-9467.
