STATEHOUSE (April 10, 2024) — Communities in Senate District 27 will receive over $6.7 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded nearly $1.7 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 27, the following communities received grants:

  • Fayette County received $1,424,662.49;
  • Franklin County received $1,118,688.75
  • Henry County received $1.5 million;
  • Knightstown received $644,781.75;
  • Middletown received $109,458.22;
  • Mount Summit received 190,582.50;
  • Richmond received $320,196.98;
  • Union County received $1,283,246.09; and
  • Wayne County received $186,520.26.

"Infrastructure is a vital part of our economy, and maintaining it can be difficult, especially in rural areas," Raatz said. "I look forward to seeing the benefits of this grant program in our communities and commend our local leaders for taking advantage of this opportunity."

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1.5 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.

The CCMG offers two rounds of applications each year, with the next call for applications occurring in July of 2024.
