Purdue University students gain experience at Indiana Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 16, 2024) – Samuel Johnson and Miles Klube are serving as interns for the Indiana Senate Majority Caucus during the 2024 legislative session, said State Sen. Spencer Deery (R-West Lafayette).

Johnson, a resident of Durham, New Hampshire, is the son of William and Ginger Johnson. He is currently a junior at Purdue University studying economics.

Klube, a resident of Buffalo, New York is the son of Amy and Daryl Klube. He is a junior at Purdue University studying political science.

"Each of our interns play an important role in helping senators and constituents navigate the legislative session," Deery said. " I am pleased to see these two interns invest their time to grow more professionally at the statehouse and become more civically engaged."

As legislative interns, Johnson and Klube track and analyze bill data, provide constituent services, staff Senate committee hearings and meetings, and conducts legislative policy research.

"I am happy to be involved at the Statehouse and enjoy learning about the legislative process through this internship," said Johnson.

"I am very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to serve these senators as they work hard to help Hoosiers," said Klube.

Senate Majority interns work through the duration of the legislative session, which is scheduled to end by March 14.
