 State Sen. Aaron Freeman to chair
Code Revision Commission, corrections and criminal code study committee  

STATEHOUSE (July 13, 2023) — State Sen. Aaron Freeman (R-Indianapolis) will serve as chair of the Code Revision Commission and the Interim Study Committee on Corrections and Criminal Code, and as a member of the Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council in preparation for the 2024 legislative session.

"Reviewing crime trends is an important part of our work in the public safety policy space," Freeman said. "As chair of the Senate Committee on Corrections and Criminal Law, I'm pleased to have the opportunity to continue our work on criminal law from the 2023 legislation and consider and discuss how we can further improve our correctional system. "

Legislators will meet over the summer and fall months to discuss topics approved by the bipartisan Legislative Council, which is comprised of 16 voting members – eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
