Policy Internship with the Senate Republicans

Applications to intern with the Indiana Senate Republicans are open for the 2027 legislative session.

This internship gives college students and recent graduates an opportunity to learn about state government, experience the legislative process and build their professional network.

The policy internship gives young professionals with an interest in public policy, research and lawmaking an opportunity to learn how state government operates. Policy interns are an extension of the Senate Republican Policy Office and will research legislation, follow committee hearings and session debates, review communications materials for accuracy, and more.

Policy interns' daily tasks include:

• Tracking legislative proposals throughout the session;
• Attending legislative committee hearings and floor debates;
• Conducting legislative and policy research to support senators' work;
• Reviewing material for policy accuracy; and
• Contributing to policy memos on key legislation.

Benefits

Interns earn a $900 biweekly stipend, are eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university, and can apply for academic scholarships through the Verizon Communications and Senator David Ford Scholarship Funds.

Eligibility

This internship is open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as recent college graduates, graduate students or law students. All majors are accepted.

This is a full-time, in-person, spring semester internship at the Statehouse in Indianapolis that typically begins in late December or early January and concludes at the end of the 2027 legislative session, which by law must end on or before April 29.

Application Deadline

The deadline to apply for the internship program is Oct. 31.
