Niemeyer to chair Senate Committee on Environmental Affairs

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 9, 2022) – State Sen. Rick Niemeyer (R-Lowell) has been appointed by Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) to serve as chair of the Senate Committee on Environmental Affairs for the 123rd Indiana General Assembly.

Niemeyer will also serve as the ranking member on the Senate Committee on Local Government, and as a member on the Senate Committee on Tax and Fiscal Policy.

"My work on wastewater and agricultural issues has helped prepare me for the role of chair of the Senate Committee on Environmental Affairs, and I am honored to have the opportunity to be a leader in that capacity this session," Niemeyer said. "I am also pleased to be serving as the ranking member for the Local Government committee, especially when there are so many issues affecting Hoosiers on a local level throughout the state. I look forward to collaborating with other legislators to discuss what we can do to benefit all Hoosiers."

The 2023 legislative session ceremonially began with Organization Day on Nov. 22. The Senate is scheduled to reconvene for session Jan. 9.
